The beauty of the Livradois-Forez landscape sets the scene for ever more exhilarating routes, making our region a prime destination for mountain bike enthusiasts. Those looking for a large-format playground are sure to find something to suit them. Now connected, the trails of the ” Massif des Bois Noirs” and ” Ambert-Crêtes du Forez ” FFC mountain-biking areas form the largest mountain-biking area ever created in France.

From the north to the south of the Livradois-Forez Regional Nature Park, these areas approved by the French Cycling Federation meet at the Supeyres pass. This unprecedented network of 125 signposted mountain bike trails now covers almost 2,780 km. It also covers no fewer than four départements: Allier, Loire, Puy-de-Dôme and Haute-Loire.

In addition to these routes, there are also those of the Espace VTT n°1 centre at Le Vernet-la-Varenne and the Quatre Vents centre at Aubusson-d’Auvergne.

With 53 starting points spread throughout the area, the possibilities for discovery are endless. Each trail is graded according to its level of difficulty: green for beginners, blue for intermediates, red for experts and black for experts. This clear, consistent signposting system allows everyone to choose their own route. Whether you’re a seasoned mountain biker or a beginner, you’ll find routes to suit you.

6 to 7 days, over 230 km and some 5,500 metres of ascent! The most seasoned sportsmen and women will go from the Dore valley to the La Chaise-Dieu plateau, and from the Livradois mountains to those of Forez. You’ll take in turns wide, rolling forest paths, narrow, rocky footpaths, high-altitude meadows, beautiful descents and, of course, some fine climbs… In other words: a complete and sporting itinerant tour.

Whether you’re a super climber, a downhill arrow or not, this mountain bike tour gives you the option of shortening your itinerary into two loops. As a result, all mountain bikers, fitness enthusiasts and nature lovers can’t fail to be seduced by the beauty and richness of these landscapes. It’s best to be a little physically prepared, but for that, we’re counting on you.

Discover our new enduro mountain bike trails

Faster, more technical and more demanding, these challenging mountain bike rides take you up the slopes of the Bois Noirs. Situated on the edge of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, the Bois Noirs massif peaks at 1,634 metres at Pierre-sur-Haute. It stretches across three départements: Allier, Loire and Puy-de-Dôme. With a mix of fresh air, technique and speed, downhill mountain bikers and lovers of the great outdoors will love recharging their batteries here. FromAmbertorArlanc, to the area around Courpière, the Hautes-Chaumes or Noirétable, these trails for all once again offer a variety of scenery for an experience that’s never boring.
