Description
Discover lacto-fermentation, an ancient method that preserves nutrients, during a hands-on workshop: harvesting from the garden, preparing brine, and filling jars. Take home your own jar of fermented produce.
Lactic acid fermentation is an ancient method of food preservation that preserves nutrients while improving digestibility. In this workshop, you’ll learn the key steps of this natural and health-promoting process. We’ll start with a guided tour of our garden, during which each participant will pick the necessary ingredients. Next, we’ll prepare a brine solution designed to promote fermentation, then place the ingredients in jars. Each jar will be labeled with the date and its contents for easy tracking. Each participant will take home their own lacto-fermented jar.
Ages 6 and up.
