Description
Forest bathing is a moment of shared silence and slowness, with the senses awakened and a sense of presence that fosters a reconnection with oneself, others, and one’s surroundings.
A moment of connection with life that brings great harmony.
Shinrin yoku is a practice that originated in Japan. It translates to “forest bathing” because we are completely immersed in the volatile compounds released by trees—phytoncides (or terpenes)—which have a highly beneficial effect on physical and mental health, as proven by various studies.
The guidance of a shinrin yoku guide helps participants cultivate a sense of presence through various approaches (playful, sensory, and meditative). Connecting with the forest in this way also supports our natural capacity for well-being. Participants reconnect with their inner selves by being fully present in their bodies and by sharing the experiences they’ve had during the sessions. They feel deeply connected to one another.
These are moments of gratitude for life. At the end of the outing, we express our gratitude to the forest for all it has given us through a gesture of thanks (such as a mandala or land art). By reestablishing a meaningful connection with the natural world, we contribute to a more sustainable society.
The excursions are suitable for children ages 8 and up. There are no prerequisites other than being able to walk in the woods.
