This is the only museum in France devoted to the art of painting on glass, more commonly known as "fixé sous verre". A place to marvel at the diversity, quality and (sometimes) naivety of this fixture.
The Museum's ambition is to promote and popularize the art of painting under glass, and to make known the living artists who perpetuate this art through temporary exhibitions, meetings and the publication of monographs.
One room will be devoted to local artists Henri POURRAT and Alexandre VIALATTE, with numerous archives, original editions and manuscripts.
The museum will be home to France's largest tableau de fixé, a triptych almost 5 m long by artist Ulrick Stückelberger. The "Resurrection" work, created in 2022, "transcribes" Gustav Mahler's eponymous symphony into images.
During opening days: guided tour at 3 pm, self-guided tour the rest of the time and tearoom (coffee, chocolate, tea and dish of the day) open from 11 am to 6 pm.
