Are you familiar with Fourme d'Ambert, the blue-veined cylinder cheese? A staple of the traditional family cheese platter, "fourme" has been produced in the Livradois-Forez region for centuries.
The Maison de la Fourme d'Ambert et des fromages d'Auvergne is located in a 14th-century house in downtown Ambert. It showcases the making of Fourme d'Ambert cheese, a collection of dairy utensils and equipment, and items linked to life in the mountain pastures (jasseries, milking cows, rosaries, etc.). The maturing cellar showcases the five Auvergne PDO cheeses.
