Historic site and monument, Religious heritage, Wayside cross in Connangles

  • On the outskirts of the town on the road leading to Intranges, three large crosses, the symbol of Christianity, look down on the valley.

  • About 6 km away from La Chaise Dieu, Connangles is a small village with a wide range of hiking trails.
    The calvaries and crosses are made of stone, iron or wood. They have flourished at crossroads, recalling the sacrifice of Jesus and calling Christians to prayer.
    In La Chaise-Dieu, you can see the Bancillon Cross (1541), the Gel Cross or the Connangles Calvary.
